About me
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a minor in journalism from Rutgers University in Newark, and am currently a reporter at the Ocean Star, a small, local newspaper headquartered in Point Pleasant with a circulation of 20,000. I am responsible for writing on average 350 inches or ten to twelve pages of the paper's content each week.
While in school, I was a productions/editorial intern at an online health magazine called Well and Good NYC. As an intern I was not only responsible for writing, editing and uploading stories to our website using WordPress, but I also worked closely with editors to help with content sharing and social media management. While interning, I was also the executive editor at my college newspaper, The Observer, where I managed meetings in addition to editing, fact-checking and proofreading articles under deadline.
I've also gained office experience while interning at New Jersey Manufacturer's Insurance Company, where I was responsible for creating a social media plan and carrying out administrative tasks for two summers.
As an undergraduate, I completed various English and journalism courses that have worked to build my verbal and written communication skills. The journalism courses that I've taken have specifically worked to build my reporting abilities while the English courses have worked to enhance my grammar and creativity.
I've always loved to read and write, and am interested in a wide variety of fields from magazine, newspaper and online publications, to book publishing and event production. My personal interests include writing poetry, reading, and learning in general.
